Planning Your Care

For physical therapy treatment, Medicare, Medicaid, L&I, VA, Kaiser Permanente and most commercial insurance companies require written orders from a licensed doctor. These are also commonly called prescriptions or referrals.

Additionally, prior authorization for PT visits is required by L&I, VA, several Medicaid carriers and by many commercial insurance plans.

If you need help determining whether or not doctors orders and authorization are required by your policy carrier, please call Cammie in our front office Tuesday thru Friday 9am to 5pm. She'll gladly help you to learn about you insurance requirements and coverage upon your request.

We may ask you to change into a patient gown so that your injury can be more easily examined. Feel free to bring your own shorts, t-shirt, etc... if that makes you more comfortable.

Preferred attire also includes a good pair of workout shoes, such as a good pair of sneakers.

If you are being seen for foot orthotics, please bring several pairs of your favorite and frequently worn shoes with you.

In addition to your prescription (if applicable) Please bring your insurance cards and a piece of identification with you to your evaluation visit. Typically the first 15-20 minutes of your visit will include administrative paperwork and a standardized self-assessment quiz that will help your therapist to better assess your condition and monitor your progress throughout your care.

The first appointment, including registration, initial assessment, developing a 'plan of care' and beginning your treatment, typically takes 90 minutes to 2 hours.

Suzie will develop an individualized treatment plan with your personal goals in mind. This may include the use of therapeutic exercises, modalities, manual therapy, symptom management strategies, body mechanics, positioning and posture awareness, and an individual exercise program designed to assist you with meeting you goals and expediting your recovery.
